Fyreside Newsletter - 8/3/26

Hey Reader,

Last week, I forgot about this newsletter for the first time. Truth be told, every other week in the last two years that I haven't sent a newsletter, it's been a conscious choice. This time, however, it completely slipped my mind. On the surface, this error was forced by a change to my Monday routine, but the deeper reality is that I'm running out of steam for this outlet. Let me explain.

What this newsletter has yet to become

I started this newsletter for a lot of reasons and to hang its existence on just one would be insincere. That said, what I have always wanted this newsletter to be is a lead generator. To translate that from business jargon to common, I hoped this weekly email would bring me new work opportunities. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case, at least not substantially.

I've also hoped that this newsletter would spread and its subscriber base would grow. To be clear, the current subscriber rate is still triple the size that I expected it to be! I'm incredibly grateful to you for continuing to check out my little musings every week and for the community that I have built here! But the reality is that growth has stagnated and I seem to have reached a plateau.

What this newsletter continues to be

I love the sound of my own voice, both the physical one and the little one in my head that reads along with me as I write. I also love to have an outlet for my voice. My brain moves faster than I do most of the time and it gets loud in there. This newsletter has been a pressure valve to get so many thoughts and feelings out of my head. From marketing, to the state of the world, to just my general thoughts, this space to externally process continues to be one of my favorites.

This newsletter has fostered support for Bahnfyre PR that I haven't found elsewhere. The responses, kind thoughts, and (something I still can't believe is real) the tips make my day every time. I have said it many times, but without you on the other side of this email, there wouldn't be a Bahnfyre PR at all.

What all this means

This sure reads like the kind of newsletter someone sends right before they announce they're shutting down their newsletter. That's not actually my plan! I'm actually on vacation this week and will still be on that vacation when next Monday roles around. Going cold for three weeks felt like too much and I wanted to let you know where things are. I'm still available for client work, I'm still available for instructional work, I'm still looking for a fulltime job, and I'm still trying to keep this weekly newsletter alive. That's a lot.

As stated above, this newsletter has yet to become what I hoped it would be, and it may never. I feel with that truth comes must also come with the acknowledgement that it may not be perpetual. I've backed off on TikTok in service of my own sanity and there may come a time where I need to back off this newsletter as well. Luckily, that's not now.

But you still won't hear from me next week because I'm on vacation. 😎

p.s.

  • Don't worry, I'm not writing this on vacation. Working on vacation is shameful and I refuse to endorse it. I wrote this last week and pre scheduled it.

Fyreside Newsletter - 7/13/26 Hey Reader, The stars that control the algorithm aligned and I was struck by targeted marketing this week. Specifically, something entered my atmosphere that was so "for me" I couldn't help but fall down the rabbit hole. So this week I'm here to showcase a really solid example of non-traditional marketing. This newsletter isn't sponsored by anyone, let alone the subject of this email, so please don't take this as any sort of endorsement. There's no free promotion...

Fyreside Newsletter - 7/13/26 Hey Reader, I'm lined up for a busy week. I have a couple of client calls, a handful of shifts at my side gig, and I'm still applying for jobs. I'm also trying to plan a wedding and like, four different vacations. It's nice to be busy, (and I'll never complain about four vacations) but I'm low on bandwidth. The thing about being low on bandwidth is that you're constantly reminded just how low on bandwidth you are. Literally everything feels overwhelming and even...

Fyreside Newsletter - 6/22/26 Hey Reader, I hope you were able to enjoy a long weekend! Whether or not you celebrated anything, I hope you at least stayed cool and stayed out of the sun. The 4th of July used to be my favorite holiday, exclusively for the fireworks. Some of my fondest childhood memories involve launching Indiana's finest fireworks from my grandparents backyard. With or without patriotism, the wonder of booming color captivated me. Eventually, I decided I like Halloween more,...
